Höffner Marathon Relay: experience 42.195 km as a team.

Start location: Spiridon-Louis-Ring in the Olympic Park
Start time: 9:25 am, in several start waves according to your estimated finish time (your start time and start wave are noted on your bib)

Important information for the start area

• Access: Only with an official bib showing your personal start time and start wave.
• Clothing: Clothing left behind in the start area will be collected and donated to a charitable organisation.

Smooth baton handover – how it works

At the exchange points you will find clearly marked areas sorted by bib numbers. This way, you can recognise your relay teammates quickly and easily.

Please make your own way to the handover point so that the exchange runs smoothly and you can continue without delay.

Only participants with an official and valid bib are allowed to take part in the race. It must be attached with safety pins at chest height on the front and be clearly visible.

The bib is personalised and therefore cannot be transferred. Any alteration or covering of text or sponsor logos will result in disqualification of the participant!

Runners without a bib will be removed from the course!

You do not need to return your bib or the relay baton after the race. You can take them home as a souvenir.

Timing is done via the RFID transponder / MikaTag integrated into your team’s relay baton.

Ranking:

Only runners who properly cross the start and finish lines and all other timing mats on the course are ranked. Your team’s effective running time (“net time”) is used for the ranking.

Live tracking:

Your live data will be transmitted on race day and will be available at www.marathonmuenchen.org. Friends and family can follow your progress in real time.

To keep you fuelled during the race, the route is equipped with several refreshment and water stations. There you can refuel with water, Hydraid electrolyte drinks and snacks to power through your race with full energy.

Refreshment stations (drinks and snacks):

At the refreshment stations you will receive: water from Stadtwerke München, Hydraid Hydration Helper electrolytes (lemon flavour), Dextro Energy Bar (chocolate and vanilla), Dextro Energy pro Line Gel 40 (mango-passion fruit, from KM 26.5) and bananas from REWE. In addition, there is Red Bull Schorle at KM 10.5, 31.5 and 37 and Cola at KM 39.5:

Use the refreshment and water stations strategically to pace yourself as well as possible and stay strong all the way to the finish line.

Personal supplies are only offered for the half marathon and marathon.

Mobile toilets are available for all runners in the start and finish area and at every refreshment station (see above).

At Willi-Gebhardt-Ufer shortly before kilometre 42, approx. 300 metres before the finish, relay runners 1 to 3 can join their final runner and run the last metres to the finish in the Olympic Park together as a strong team. A perfect moment to celebrate team spirit and cross the finish line together!

Finish: Willi-Daume-Platz at the Olympic Lake

• Cut-off time: 3:25 pm 

• Time limits on the course: The event’s official cut-off times along the course must be met (not your own estimated finish time). The limit is indicated by a closing vehicle.

• Traffic regulations: Road closures only apply during the official race times.

Exceeding the time limits: Participants who exceed the event’s official cut-off times must continue the race on the pavement.

At the finish in the Olympic Park, a rich selection of refreshments awaits you, so that you can regain your strength after your successful run and reward yourselves for your performance. 

You can expect:

• Fruit from REWE: bananas, apples, grapes
• Bars: REWE Power protein bars, wafer bars from REWE and BE-KIND bars
• Savoury & sweet: pretzel sticks and cake
• To stay hydrated: water from Stadtwerke München and Hydraid electrolytes
• To celebrate: lemonade, Spezi and non-alcoholic Paulaner wheat beer 0.0 %

Please note: Access to the finish catering is only possible once. Take this moment to recover and refuel sufficiently before you leave the area.

Sustainability is close to our hearts. That is why we rely on environmentally friendly measures to make the MARATHON MÜNCHEN by Brooks as resource-efficient as possible. You can contribute too!

Green on the move – use public transport

We recommend that all participants travel by public transport. The Olympic Park is ideally connected to the MVV network. You can find all information on how to get there here: Link.

Clean course – please dispose of waste properly

• Refreshment stations: Please throw used cups and packaging into the bins provided directly behind the refreshment stations.
• Finish area: Here, too, there are separate containers for waste and for reusable cups from the finish catering so that they can be reused.

Doing good – donate instead of throwing away

• We donate leftover food from the refreshment stations and the finish area to charitable organisations.
• Clothing left behind in the start area is collected and passed on to people in need.

In an emergency, every second counts. Everyone can help! The most important thing is to offer help and call the emergency number. 

Immediate measures in an emergency

• An on-site emergency service is ready for action in the Olympic Park and along the course.

Important information for the emergency services 

Stick to the five W questions to enable fast and targeted help: 

1. Where did it happen? 

2. Who is calling? 

3. What happened? 

4. How many people are affected? 

5. Wait for questions from the control centre 

Make sure you stay calm in an emergency, act quickly and give the emergency services the information they need. Every bit of support can save lives. 

Note: Please fill out the emergency information on the back of your bib completely so that we can contact your relatives in an emergency.

Your health comes first. To enjoy the race safely, you should listen to your body and avoid possible risks. 

Before the race – don’t forget your health check 

• It is recommended to have a sports medical check-up once a year to check your physical fitness. 

• If you are unsure whether you can start, seek medical advice. 

During the race – watch out for warning signs 

• React to unusual discomfort or warning signs from your body. 

• If in doubt, it is better to stop the race to avoid damage to your health. 

When starting is not recommended 

• If you have acute infections or health problems, you should not take part. 

• This recommendation applies to all distances and disciplines. 

Be mindful of your body – a healthy finish is the most important goal.
