Thurley vs. Hille: The elite field for the Sport Schuster Halbmarathon by Brooks

Tom Thurley and Erik Hille will face each other again at the Sport Schuster Halbmarathon by Brooks. In April, the two took gold and silver at the German Marathon Championships in Hanover. On 11 October, the Munich Athletics teammates will race 21.1 kilometres through Munich.
Men: German champion vs. silver medallist
Thurley won his first German title in Hanover in 2:11:02, while Hille finished second in 2:12:22. In August, both competed at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. In Munich, they will now go head to head over the half distance.
Strong competition comes from Sweden. Emil Millán de la Oliva is the Swedish champion and has a half marathon personal best of 1:02:44. At the end of September, he improved his marathon best to 2:13:13 at the Warsaw Marathon.
Women: International experience and fast times
The women’s field also features runners with international experience. Mónica Silva from Portugal ran the marathon at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham in August and has a half marathon best of 1:11:37. Denmark’s Kathrine Højgaard (Munich Athletics) also lined up in Birmingham and has already run the half marathon in 1:16:07. Thea Heim (Munich Athletics) completes the elite field with a personal best of 1:13:17.
Start and finish at the Olympic Park
The race starts on Sunday, 11 October, at 10:25 a.m. on the Spiridon-Louis-Ring in the Olympic Park. The fastest runners are expected at the finish on Willi-Daume-Platz from 11:25 a.m.
