The MARATHON MÜNCHEN by Brooks was named Germany’s most attractive city marathon route in a recent study. An analysis of the visual perception of international runners confirms that Munich offers a unique city experience over 42.195 kilometers. The decisive factors were the urban architecture along the route, world-famous sights, and diverse natural areas, which make the run a particularly inspiring experience.
Starting at the Olympic Park, the route leads through the lively city center, past Marienplatz, across Odeonsplatz and Siegestor, into the English Garden, and on to the modern Werksviertel district. This mix of historical landmarks, city vibes, and green oases makes Munich unique. The new one-lap course showcases Munich’s diversity without repetition – each passage brings new impressions, new emotions, and new motivation.
According to the study, Munich ranks among the top 30 city marathons worldwide and the top 15 in Europe. This is a strong sporting statement for Munich and a visible step towards international excellence.
