MAKE IT YOURS. RUN MUNICH.

The MARATHON MÜNCHEN by Brooks 2025 celebrated its premiere under new management with historic success: 28,500 participants made the event the largest running event in the city’s history. From the marathon and half marathon to the 10-kilometre run, the relays, the Friendship Run and the Kids Run, Munich experienced a weekend full of movement, emotion and community.

Top performances and pure running passion

The athletes set sporting highlights on the new, fast inner-city course:

  • Nina Voelckel (2:31:33) and Gabriel Lautenschlager (2:18:28) triumphed over the classic marathon distance.
  • In the half marathon, Sebastian Hendel (SCC Berlin, 1:04:01) and Dr Laura Hottenrott (1:12:08) celebrated impressive victories.
  • The duel between Kristina Hendel (2:26:40) and Nina Voelckel in particular caused excitement along the route.

Around 150,000 spectators created a spine-tingling atmosphere. From Marienplatz to the English Garden to the finish line in the Olympic Stadium. Munich ran, cheered and celebrated.

Munich on the move: a city in running fever

The whole of Munich was on its feet: along the route, in the city centre and in the Olympic Park, the city was transformed into a stage for movement, enthusiasm and sporting team spirit. The new MARATHON MÜNCHEN by Brooks showed what is possible when sport, city and people come together.

Three days of festival atmosphere in the Olympic Park

The Runners Festival by Brooks was the emotional centre of the marathon weekend. Over 80,000 visitors enjoyed sport, music and socialising at Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Platz. Live acts, DJ sets, sports exhibitors, test events, the Friendship Run by Brooks x parkrun and the Kids Run turned the Olympic Park into a stage for running for three days.

Under the motto ‘Make It Yours. Run Munich.’, the marathon became a symbol of diversity, movement and cohesion – in the middle of the city, in the middle of life.

A strong signal for the future

With a new route, record participation and an enthusiastic audience, the MARATHON MÜNCHEN by Brooks 2025marks a turning point in Munich’s running scene. The premiere was a complete success. A sign that Munich is ready to take off as a modern running metropolis.

1,200 volunteers, strong partners and a passionate organisation team made the event a real community experience. The enthusiasm along the route, the emotions in the Olympic Park and the positive energy of everyone involved underline the potential of this event.
